Revised Edition

So, revised edition of "Talking Dogs".

“That was a great run, though, I wonder, do you think it'll come back again?” asked a high yipping voice.

“I hope it doesn't, it wasn't much fun. It just kept rolling on, didn't even notice us.” answered another high voice, though it wasn't as eager as the other voice had been.

Two dogs ran around the corner of a disheveled old house. The yard was covered with trash and old household items. One dog seemed to be a cross between a chihuahua and a dachshund, it was dingy yellow, with one white ear, and was the source of one of the yipping voices. The other dog was a undeniable mutt, though what kind of breeds it had in it was impossible to tell. It too had a yip in its voice, though not quite as high pitched.

“It was too big to really get any pleasure from it.” the lower voice sounded again. “I guess we'll just have to wait for some better entertainment .”

“We always have to wait. I don't want to wait any longer, let's just go chase the big four legged one across the street. It's always good sport.” the high voice came from the yellow dog, named Tako by his sister, Bell.

“Not yet, here comes another great monster. Maybe it'll stop and the thing inside will talk to us like some do. That is always entertaining. Let's go before it leaves again.”

The dogs ran around the corner out of sight, and a human voice rang out, yelling some unintelligible word.

“Now that was sport,” said the lower dog voice, now the day is done, let's go.”

I'm now leaving for piano, then I'll have to finish Algebra when I get back, and this evening I have soccer practice. Gotta go.

This is part of my school work, I have once again been ordered to write on my blog by Mum. So I will try to write my writing from school work at least once a week.
Here is my first work of this week. I call it for now "Talking Dogs". Feel free to suggest different names and corrections. Have fun at my expense for now. Now I will go do something else that is slightly more interesting to me. Swing dance lessons at the park. Good bye everyone, have fun this weekend.

Information

For everyone's information, this is a strictly informative post, so don't expect too terribly much from it. We (Peter, Annalee, Aunt Susan and I) will be going to Mexico in the next couple of months, so I thought it appropriate to post the annual Mexico letter.

October 11 2008

Dear Friends,

Annalee, Lillian, and Peter Fearing are going on a service trip to Mexico with their aunt, Susan Radford, and Chase Oaks Church in Plano. The trip will be from Wednesday, November 26, through Sunday, November

30. The goal of this trip is to share the love of Jesus by building relationships in the community, building new houses, refurbishing existing homes, and conducting neighborhood outreach to children. These houses are 12 x 24 on a cement foundation. Those who get the homes have certain requirements to meet before they are considered and a local church works with them before, during and after the building has been completed. They will definitely be painting – both the house and themselves!

**Speaking as Aunt Susan, it’s a privilege to get to take the kids with me on this trip. The ways God opens their eyes to His work in another part of the world is amazing. We call these “God sightings” in the midst of the trip. The kids enjoy the work, the relationships with the family we serve and their co-workers and their faith expands. To quote the oldest, Ross, from the first time he went with me “These people are happy and they don’t have anything.” That’s a huge, eye-opening comment for kids coming from our culture where we can have it all almost whenever we want. Thanks for your participation in growing the kids and helping to give them expanding their vision of what our God can do and for helping to provide housing for those who don’t have any, giving them opportunity to hear the truth of God’s love for them.

The cost of this trip for the three of us and Aunt Susan is $1730 and needs to be received by November 7. The money required for each person includes transportation, food, lodging, and supplies for the mission – building, paint, roofing materials, and also materials for the outreach. If you would like to contribute to the Thanksgiving mission, we would ask that you make out checks to Chase Oaks Church. You may designate Mexico Mission in the notes, but please do not write our names on the check. Susan Radford will be giving these checks to the organization, so please send any contributions to:

Susan Radford

705 Warwick

Plano, TX 75023

We would also appreciate prayers for safety for the whole project in traveling and working and that we would be able to make a difference in the physical and spiritual

lives of those we build homes for!

Okay, so I think you get the idea about that. I also have been trying to sell popcorn for my Venturing crew. Venturing is a branch of boyscouts that is for boys and girls, though our crew is only girls. Anyway, we're raising money so that we can go to Philmont scout ranch. So ends my informational post, till next time.

Last week, hurricane Ike hit Nacogdoches. A couple of trees fell in our neighborhood, but only one actually hit a house. Thankfully, that one didn't do much damage either, as far as I could tell. However, none of us were here to enjoy the hurricane to it's fullest as all of us were in different places. Mom and Dad went to San Diego for some conference, Peter Annalee and I went to Mineola to the Cargill's house and Ross and Andrew went back to college. I'm sure we all had fun in our respective areas, other than college. But as I was only in Mineola, I couldn't tell you what other people did. So, you'll have to be happy with an account of what I did all week. And then some.

So, Tuesday we left for our respective places, Andrew and Ross to A@M, and Mom, Dad, Peter, Annalee and I to Mineola. I think I spent most of the two hours it took to get to Mineola either reading or staring out the window. Once we did get there, we all lugged our various amounts of luggage into the house and bid adieu to Mom and Dad. There were only four of the six, er, seven now Cargill's at home. The seventh being the oldest's, Kristin's, husband. Kimela, the second oldest, is in college, I think. Then Katie and Ryan are both at home with Dr. and Mrs. Cargill.

Now, to summarize the week: I don't really remember all that we did on Tuesday, but we did go swimming in their pool and played various games.

Wednesday: We started off by doing our school work, for me that was Math and Biology. After doing those things in a remarkably quick amount of time, everyone else was still busy doing their school work, so I sat down with a book I was supposed to read. Once everyone was done with their school, we once again played various games which included card games, something called the foot game, and eventaully, swimming. After dinner, we watched Jurassic Park 1, wich wasn't terrible, but wasn't the greatest movie I've ever seen either.

Thursday: Once again, we all did school work. Once again I finished very quickly and read a book till everyone else was finished. And again, we all played various games until dinner. After dinner, Dr. Cargill announced that he was going to take us on an ecological tour of the Mineola Nature Reserve. He also gave us assignments to research. The idea was that we would tell each other what we had learned about our subjects. So, once we had our individual things to research, we were also told that they had visitors that night. Needless to say, that ment that all of us had to go back to Katie's and Ryan's rooms to research and then, to eventaully play.

Friday: School, read, play. Lunch, then depart for the Mineola Nature Preserve. It was a really neat trip, not only did we see raccoons and a beehive, but also various poisonous snakes. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Once we got to the preserve, we all took a restroom break as there were none on the trail. I can't go into much detail, as I don't remember very much of it. On the trail, the paved part that is, there was a beehive. We also saw a bunch of tree frogs in a swampy part of the park. About three-ish, Katie, Mary and Mrs. Cargill had to leave for Katie's lessons. I don't recall what kind of lessons they were though.
After they left, we walked for a long while, until we came to a part of the path where there were posts from an old rail-way lining the path. In the dirt, someone had written "raccoons in post". Certain people were, of course curious. So someone had the bright idea of sticking a stick inside the post to see if there was anything there. Thankfully, that person didn't hit the mother raccoon, else we might have had some casualities. They did however, manage to wake the baby, which promptly started vocalizing it's discontent with the situation. After which everyone, including me, had to stick their heads in to investigate.
When that had ended, we continued walking until we got to the river, where we took a break on some benches. After resting for a small amount of time, we continued on our way. When Peter and Ryan had reached a bridge, Ryan let out a tremendously high pitched yell, and jumped four feet in the air. It so happens that just as he had reached the bridge and was about to walk across it, he saw a tremendously sized water moccosin snake and what appeared to be it's child. Again, we continued on our way, until we reached the home stretch. We were, again, confronted by a deadly poisonous snake, this time a rattlesnake. It curled up and rattled and we threw stones at it until it slithered away. After that, we had no more incidents of the kind again. We arrived home safely and with plenty of jellybeans having been dispatched. We ended the day by watching Jurassic Park 2.

Saturday: No school! Of course I did sleep late, but then, who doesn't sleep late on a Saturday? The day consisted of various games and swimming in the pool. We also almost officially closed the pool, but not quite. I mean that we did everything but put the pool cover on. After watching Jurassic Park 3, we all went to bed.

Sunday: We all got up earlier then usual so that we could get to Church on time. However, only Katie, Ryan, Annalee, Dr. Cargill and I went to morning worship. Mary was going to stay for the second worship, but got carsick and, well, got sick. I don't really remember much else that we did that day but watch a movie. Unfortunatley, I also don't remember which movie we watched.

Monday: The day we left. But we didn't leave until around 1:30. Until then, we did school, and played games again. The trip home was uneventfull. But, once we did get to Nacogdoches, I had to immediatly to a Venturing meeting that I was going to late to anyhow. The point of the meeting was to clean the cars at Tipton Ford. So, we finished up around 8:30-ish and everyone went home.

Tuesday: A mostly normal day, except that I didn't do all of my normal work, as Mom was still recovering from San Diego. That night, I again went to Tipton Ford, this time only a few minutes late.

That's all I'm posting, as for Wednesday through today, as far as you know, they didn't exist. So, hope your happy with that, 'cause that's all I'm going to write until tomorrow at earliest.

Who Cares What This Thing is Called?

Did you notice my very elegant title? I decided that I've just about run out of title names, so I just made one up. Hee hee! So on to ordinary, every day, run of the mill things.
More school work. More tears shed over Algebra. More great sighs of exasperation over geography. More banging my head on the table because I don't know what I'm doing and why. But I guess it's not all bad, after all, without school what would I do all day? Okay, so that's not exactly fair. I shall rephrase. Without school, I wouldn't know how to read! Imagine that! Me, not reading! That would be strange indeed. Speaking of reading, would you like to know what I have been reading? Something called "A Father's Promise". It's a book about the second World War. Specifically, about a Jewish-Christian boy in the second World War. It's rather interesting, and considering that I don't normally go for books without dragons in them, that's saying something.

Randomness. Dad just made me look a personage (or rather, as he says, a story about a person) called Enide. Apparently, she was as Arthurian character. Here's the story.

{Enide and Geraint/Erec meet while the hero is on a mission to defeat a cruel knight, and her family provides him with armor and food. They fall in love and marry, but the hero begins to forsake his social and chivalric duties for domestic bliss. Rumors spread, and Enide blames herself. One night, her husband overhears her crying about damaging his reputation.

In Chrétien's version, Erec begins to question Enide's love, but in Geraint the protagonist misunderstands her sobs and thinks she has been unfaithful to him. In both romances, the hero makes her accompany him on a long and dangerous trip, and forbids her to talk to him. Enide ignores this command several times to warn her husband of impending danger. Over the course of the trip, Erec/Geraint proves his abilities as a knight have not faded and accepts that Enide's love and loyalty are genuine, and the couple is reconciled.}

Get the general idea? Good. Anyway, back to books. Maybe not. I just changed my mind. Instead, I'll tell you about today. Other than school (groan) I went to a Venturing meeting tonight. Mostly we talked about fund raising (hint hint!) for Philmont. Our plans were to start... You know, maybe I shouldn't tell you. :P!!! Very, very secret plans they were. And I shall not divulge them! Ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaa! Weeelllll... I guess I can tell you that we planned on doing some yard work eventually. That's not too secret. Other than that, we colored while the adults talked. We all acted, in other words, like four year olds. Though with less squabbling and more giggling.

I've always wondered, what is is with teenage girls and giggling? Is it some hormone type thing? Or do we all have some secret agreement just to annoy the boys and keep them up all night. Hmmm... Definitely something to ponder, especially for you guys out there. Pbthh.

So anyway, from now on, I'll try to think before I giggle. But it'll definitely take some effort. *Giggle*!

I am posting today because I have been taken to task by several people about certain things I wrote yesterday. Firstly, I would like to say that I said something very wrong about losing to ASU. Aggies never lose. That is the truth. Also, the band at half time always wins no matter wether the football team does well or not. So, excuse me for those very large mess ups.

And this is for all of you who have written and told me so. :P!!!!!!!

Today we officially started school in the Fearing household. But, only Peter had to do all his school. Because Courtney Yerkes stayed over. Yeah!!! She also spent the night last night and left about two when she was suppposed to have left closer to ten.

In case you were wondering, the reason I didn't blog on Saturday was because we went to A@M and came back around one o'clock. I also didn't blog on Sunday because I just don't normally blog on Sunday.

So, Saturday. We left around eight thirty-ish and ended up getting there around ten. I think. Anyway, when we did get there, we ate lunch at Andrew and Ross' Corps barbecue. It was hamburgers. And pie for dessert. It was alright, but not my favorite. After lunch, we went to the M.S.C. (Memorial Student Center) until around four or earlier. While we waited, Annalee, Dad and I went wondering around and found an art gallery and a museum type thing. The art gallery wasn't as interesting as the museum. Maybe because they wouldn't give you candy for finding the lost pig. Oh well, we found the pig anyhow. At the museum, other than finding pigs, we also found several very beuatiful and valuable pieces of art by very famous artists.
After leaving the M.S.C., we went to the football field and watched the march in. Though oringinally we hadn't meant to stay f0r the game, we did. It wasn't a very good game. We lost (we reffering to the Aggies) eighteen to fourteen against Arkansas State. So, after losing the game and leaving the stadium, everone congregated at the parking garage and the Radfords left. Us Fearings then went to our car and drove home, getting back here somewhere around one-ten.

Sunday was a normal Sunday. Yesterday the Yerkes came over and stayed till dinner. I won't go into all the wierd and strange things that Courtney, Annalee and I did that day, but we did have fun. Just so you know. Courtney also spent the night, but I already told you that. I also will not go into all the details of playing with Courtney today either. We had a generally good time. It also started raining yesterday, not the prescribed terrible, hard, relentless kind that was forecasted. Just drizzle. All last night and all today. Sigh.

Josh came over today to do some sort of school with Peter and Mom, and he stayed until after dinner. I played a game of Stratego with him and lost. But I also played a game against Annalee and basically won. But only because she forfeited. >:P Anyway, not much else happened yet, so nothing else to really say. Oh, yeah, do you like my new quote? I personally like it, so it's staying for a while longer.

Knit, Purl

Hey, does everyone like my new colors? I decided that since two, and possibly three, of my brothers are over at A@M that the colors were appropriate. Anyone object? If you do, that's just too bad, because I like it this way. So, pbtthhhh! Hehe.

Going in other directions... Dad is now requiring me and Annalee to ride our bicycles down the county road almost every day. It's okay, but after the first day, my bones are rather sore. Why do they make roads so bumpy? The road has some pretty spectacular views though, if you know where to look. One of these days, I'm going to take my camera with me and post the pictures on my other blog.

Moving on, Mom was ordering books for our school today. Ack! Also, she informed us of our new chore schedule. Another ack. Apparently this year, I'm starting Spanish and geography and a Lord of the Rings study. The study at least should be interesting.
Last night we were watching Two Towers. We got as far as the start of the Helm's Deep war. That would be where the orks charge the wall. I also finished my first ball of yarn on my knitting project. I've decided to call it a shawl, though Annalee seems determined that it WILL be called a poncho. Why? I really don't know.

So today's subject, knitting. To start off, I'll tell you the diffenece between stockinetter and knit or purl, just cause I can. The main difference is that stockinette (we'll call it stock.) is alternated knitting and purling. Now, stock. doesn't really look any different from regular knit or purl, but if you look really close, it appears to have a row of knit between every purl stich. That could be normal though. You'd have to ask my mother about that. I have told you about my project, which is all stock. It's really not hard at all. At one point Mom did a row on the shawl, and it looks different from mine because I knit through the back, which I'm told is unusual.
Anyone fans of Doctor Who? Well my mother found these patterns online for a knitted Dalek. The pattern was called Extermi-knit. Mom also found a pattern for the oversized scarf of the fourth doctor. Interesting I think.
So, Evelyn, how is your scarf coming? I assume that you've gotten somewhere, right? Well, good luck on it. I never got very far on any of the scarfs I started. Just recently, I got the farthest I ever got on any knitting project. Cool.
Comments are suggested. :)

Fixed

I fixed the colors. Do you think that they look better know? I couldn't remember exactly what the original ones were, so I just decided to wing it.
Maroon and gray are close enough, right? They better be.

Just in case you hadn't noticed, I changed the colors on my blog. Did anyone notice? Okay, rather obvious. Is it too much of an eyesore? Did you prefer the old colors? Tell me please! Take me out of my misery!

Wednesday Rain

I can't think of much that's happened today. It rained, but it rained yesterday too, we might need it but I find it rather depressing. However, after rain is very pretty, if the sun is shining that is.
Mom apparently has decided that blogging should be a part of school, or so my reliable sources tell me, 'hem'. So now I'm told, I'll have to go through the labors of appearing to tell you all about what has happened. Underline appearing.
So, today, it rained. Annalee and Mary insisted on waking me up earlier then I wanted to, and I awoke to find that it was raining. Which means a whole day shut up inside with the noisemakers. So, once I had finally decided get out of bed, they decided that as long as I was up, I might as well wake up all the way. They proceeded to scream and shriek, running through the house and doing such things as would be expected of monkeys.

Speaking of monkeys, last night I finished reading The Jungle Book. It was rather strange in parts, especially the bander-log (monkeys). Mary had just watched the Disney version of former said book and the differences between the book and the movie. For one thing, Baloo was not as jolly as Disney depicted him, and the wolves had a much greater part in the story. Also both Bagheera and Hathi were much more dignified in the book. In the book there were no vultures, though they were rather interesting characters, and the diferences go on and on. I think I preferred the book. So, they are two very different versions of the same story.
I also read a small book of short mysteries, the kind that have really small flaws that you have to look for. I figured out a few and decided that I might as well get some sleep.

Today has not been much but that's fine becuase I rather relish a nap when I can get one, IF I can get one. What with some certain small noisemakers, it's rather hard to get a nap around here unless they're napping too.

So, maybe more interesting things tomorrow.

Cats Galore

Yes, it's Monday. Thankfully, we haven't started school yet, but it's just a matter of time till Mom decides that we have to. I've also been thinking about this blog. It used to be my alternative to writing in a journal, but I've gotten way out of the habit of writing on it. Therefore, I'm going to ask Mom to make it a part of my school. I'm thinking, write in it twice a week at least, and writing about interesting things. So today's subject, if I decide to actually follow through with this, is going to be cats. Pretty much all cats, but some cats escpecially. Like which ones are which and how to identify them and so on.

Recently I've been reading a series of mystery books by Lillian Jackson Braun. They're about two Siamese cats, so I thought that Siamese especially would be intersting cats to write about. Here goes.

Siamese, as I've been told, are hard cats to catsit. Certainly my mother thinks so, she has told us stories concerning a certain Siamese who she catsat at one point. Apparently it was not the smartest of cats, as it would not use it's commode (cat litter box) at all. Also, Siamese are incessently loud and can annoy the most patient of people. Mom has a cat that we call her birthday presesnt because she found it on her birthday, and we are almost cerain that it is part Siamese simply because of it's loud and insistent voice. Insistent because it meows almost all the time it there are people nearby, and it becomes even more insistent if it wants to go outside or get more food. Such a cat can be quite a pain because of it's loud voice and small brains. But there is also another point of view on the Siamese.

In the books that I've been reading recently, the two main characters are both Siamese, one of which is thought to be remarkably smart because of it's crime solving capabilities. This cat's name is Kao Ko' Kung, Koko for short. And his female companion's name is Yumyum. No, don't ask me how they got they're names, becuase frankly, I don't know. So, two very different opinions and I haven't ever met a Siamese in person, so I wouldn't know which to believe.
Some other cats with known personalities are several of our own. They aren't pure bred or even close to it, so I call them mutts. Pardon the allusion to dogs. Anyway, we have three cats, and although only two of them are related, they all have the same color coats and one little white spot on their chest. Cyprus, our only female, is the confirmed queen of the house. Beamer the oldest, is our fat cat who lazes around most of the time. Then there's Schafur, the brat. He is the part Siamese I talked about earlier, and is also the most annoying of the three.

So, comments on cats are encouraged.

Yes, yes. I know it's been a while. And I know that I don't have any excuses, well, actually, I have been at my grandparents house for the last four days. Is that a reasonable excuse? Probabley not, but I don't care. Anyway, how about I tell you all about Dallas? That sounds good.

Dallas. Well, I took the normal three to four hours to get there, well, maybe not four, but you get the idea. I read "The Cat Who Played Brahms" almost the whole way there. By the way, that's a really nice mystery series by Lillian Jackson Braun about two cats and a journalist. Anyway, I read that almost the whole way, and when we did get to Dallas instead of going straight to our grandparents house like we normally do, we went to their church. We stayed there for the evening worship which was basically whatever any adult male thought he should share, some hymns, and the Lord's Supper. They had a pastor from, um, I don't remember where, but it was a foreign country where they spoke Spanish, I think. I also think that it started with a "B". Well, his name was, um, someone Carlos. Man! I have a really bad memory, I can't even remember his name! I'm very disgusted with myself at this point. >:P When we got around to the Lord's Supper, I forgot which cups had wine and which had grape juice, I of course, accidentally ended up with the wine. Gee, I nearly choked! I eventually got over that, and we finished the service.
Next day, Mom, Peter, Bet and I went shopping for quilt stuff and knitting stuff. At the yarn shop, called the Woolie Ewe, I got this really cool pattern and yarn for a shawl/wrap around thing. It's rectangular in two colors, and is made entirely of knit. No purl or anything else, just knit! In other words really easy, except for the fact that It's rather large, of course. I chose two shades of blue. Now, I know that at this point certain people would probably describe in length what exact color they were, but I'm just not a very good describer, so you'll have to do with dark blue and light blue. So... After spending half the morning quilting and knitting, we got lunch at Subway and proceeded to return to Bet and Grandaddy's house. But when we did get there, Mom decided that that would be the most opurtune moment to go to the Half Price Book store, and I'm rather glad that she did, because we spent most of the afternoon there. We also didn't have the little girls with us, so we spent even more time there than we normally did. I found this book by Christopher Tolkien that's about J. R. R. Tolkien's works. I also got several Rose is Rose comic books and several other The Cat Who... books. Then we retired to dinner and bed, I'm quite glad to say.
So, after Monday came Tuesday. And aren't you glad that it did? Anyway, after several hours of blissfull sleep, Annalee decided that I needed a wake up call that I DIDN'T need. So then, Mom took me and Mary and Annalee to the local park and she and I did some knitting. Annalee, I'm quite happy to say, spent her time very efficiently. Can you guess what she did? Chased grackles of course! What else would a self respecting ten year old do at a park full of things to climb on and to play on? Chase grackles! Well, at least Mary did some actual playing, and at least Mom and I got some knitting done.
We left Dallas about two after eating lunch at our grandparents house. We got home around four and had pizza for dinner. Yum.

Well, I can't think of anything else we did in Dallas, so a three paragraph report will have to tide you over until I think of something else to say. Say! I could say that the Yerkes are finally returning from their long and difficult journey into the great unknown of Arakansas. Yeah! Courtney is going to spend the night here on Friday, and I'm sure she'll have lots of awful, nerve wracking tales to tell. After all, her neighbors are deep Red Necks. How about it Courtney? Anyway, we also have Mary Watson's wedding going on this weekend. The wedding in which Annalee and I are expected to sing in. Well, it's only two verses, how much of a fool can one make of ones self with only two verses? I'll leave that question to the critics and move on.
Tomorrow, Andrew and Ross will be moving chairs for the reception, and Annalee and I have a piano lesson. Also, Mom will be leaving for her quilt retreat that will end on Friday evening. She's abandoning us! Help! We're going to be stuck with Ross in charge! Auughhhh! Well, then again, he makes some exceptional meals sometimes. But there's not much evidence that he feels very cooky right now. Speaking of cooky, I made dinner tonight. Parmesan Pasta Primevera. Pretty impressive, no? It turned out all right, but it needed more salt. Ah well, next time, next time. Hopefully there won't be a next time for quite some time, but that's just me hoping. I don't know about anyone else, they're probably hoping that I don't ever take up the sauce pan again. But, again, that could be me. Proabaly not.
Not much else to say, is there? If there's some subject that you think worth a mention by a certain charcter in Red, just say so.

Ramblings of a Long Day

Annalee, stop reading over my shoulder. yeah right! Ughh. Go away! Too bad. Go elsewhere, your being rather annoying you know. >:P Nahhhh. STOP HUMMING! Your going to hurt yourself doing that you know. go away! Or else....... OR ELSE. that s what. blH. PBTHHH! NO! At least I don't hink I will. And I'll fix the mistakes too. SO GO AWAY!!!! URFGHH. Peters mean. NYAH. pbthh. FROWN. >:(

Sorry about the dialogue, Annalee was just being an annoying little sister. Except for Peter's little bit, he decided that he was going to listen to music on his computer over there, and that I couldn't listen to music over on this computer. NYAH. Well I'll just listen to my own over here all by myself. SO there!

Ok, I'll leave Peter alone now, maybe. So, We're listening to the Doctor Who soundtrack, which I must say is quite impressive. Some of you people should see it some time. Dad got the third series for Dad's day, so now we can watch it whenever. It's been about three weeks since we got it and almost everyone has watched every single one of them. We're real fans if you didn't notice.

On to more realistic, mundane things. Like, perhaps, the fact that I have now moved on to algebra in math? And the fact that I'm already finding it the hardest thing to do? If you didn't notice, I'm doing this rather earlier in the day then one would expect, because I didn't go to the shop today. I'm going on thursday instead. Nothing else much has happened around here today, so theres not much to say at all. Uhhhh... The shift button is sticking, now do you think that that is because someone stuck something down there? Or could it be that the keyboard it just old? Or is some invisible little alien thing down there trying to prevent me from writing to you? Hmmm... Now I know that I've watched to much Doctor Who. Ok, write and tell me if you want me to write about some certain subject and maybe I will.

Cub Scout Day Camp

The title says it all. Alright, so, yes, I did volunteer to help with a cub scout day camp. And I'm going to be working all this week except for tomorrow. For reasons unknown Miss Vicky was going to be unable to go to work tomorrow, so I will be staying home tomorrow because I already told everyone that I won't be going tomorrow. That's a lot of tomorrows. Anyhow, pretty all I did today was to play ultimate frisbee (which was actually more like ultimate amoeba), then after eating a lunch of banana bread, boy banana has a lot of n's and a's, I practiced a bit of archery with Andrew, my brother. That was actually more like me missing the target a whole bunch of times. After that I went down to the fishing hole (pond) to help with the fishing. I did actually catch a fish after the first couple of dens had visited. I don't have any pictures because I didn't bring my camera. Sorry. I'm told that I caught a bass that weighed, um, four and three quarter ounces. Elizabeth Slaten has a picture, maybe I'll talk her into giving me a copie or two of it. Then, after fishing we did closing ceremony, which wasn't much of a ceremony I thought. We (that is the cub scouts) took down the flag and then marched, well ran, back to the fireside which didn't have a fire and which we had just come from. Talk about exhausting sentences! Well, like I said, it wasn't much of a ceremony, more of a "we had lots of fun today, come back tomorrow!" sort of thing. That was my day, any questions? Oh yeah, just in case you were wondering, the only reason Peter didn't get volunteered was because he was going to summer camp. He is now at summer camp. Anything else? Boy that was a long paragraph.

Friday

O. K., Friday now.

Friday:

After sleeping in till about ten thirty, I had breakfast. Right after breakfast we went dewberry picking. That lasted all of about five minutes because it started to rain. When we finally got back to the house, we didn't have anything else to do, so we helped May Watson to get all of her stuff up stairs. when that was done, we watched Monsters Inc. extras. It'd been a while since I'd seen them so it was kinda cool. Then we went and bounced on the trampoline for a while and I put my foot through the area between trampoline and frame. Ouch. By the way, Dad have I had my tetanus shot? Anyway, I feel fine now, so that should be alright. After that we had to get ready for Mary's shower, did I tell you she's getting married? You probably knew that. I did however tell you that I'm going to be one of her junior brides maids, Annalee's going to be her other one and little Mary is going to be her flower girl. Yippee. Back to the shower. We got there about thirty minutes early so that Mrs. Rita could visit with her relations from Louisiana. We spent till nine thirty at the party then everyone left and we had showers and went to bed. That's all that happened and I'll write about today later.

Thursday

I'm going to write about several days right now, starting with Thursday.

Thursday:
Mary, Annalee, and I went to the Watson's house on Thursday. Well, actually we didn't go to their house until lunch time. We spent the morning at Grapeland Safari Park, which is basically a very small zoo without cages. They had all sorts of animals ranging from buffalo to ducks, and all of those animals all put together begging for food all at once is rather like an ambush. The buffalo especially were good at ambushing. They put their slobber all over the windows and tended to put their heads in the car. We also saw lots of different varieties of deer, and also some antelope and mountain goats. They had zebras and llamas and one alpaca. Also, some alligators, which we couldn't get very close to because they were penned up. About birds, well they had ducks, geese and turkeys, some guinea fowl, and several peacocks. They even had two albino peacocks, which were quite amazing. When we'd seen all the wildlife, we went back to the front area to get some slushies. Boy were those good slushies, I got one called tiger's blood and it was really great. They had goats up front and a calf too, I'm trying to remember what the calf was called. Oh well, the two goats were babies and apparently twins, they certainly acted like twins. The calf kept licking my leg too, it felt really weird, sorta' like a cat tongue except about ten times bigger. On the way to the Watsons' house, we stopped by the Caddoin mounds which were really cool. We got to eat some buffalo sausage which tasted just like beef jerkey. Then we went and saw a really old fake pepper tree, which looked just like ours, except bigger and it's blossoms were pink. When we did finally get back to the Watsons' house, we cleaned the buffalo slobber of off Mary's car and went and ate lunch. That's all I'm going to say about Thursday.

Mowing Day

I'm back! Did anyone even notice that I haven't posted for a couple of days? Probably not. But lets get to the point, I am now posting again.
Today is mowing day. Big deal. Well, actually it is rather a big deal because now it's just me and Peter doing all the work. I have no idea where Andrew has gotten to, but that's beside the point. Of course, now that Peter and I are doing all the work, that means that we're both being paid more. That's one nice thing about it, I guess. Also this means that we're going to have to start training Annalee to mow. The most she's ever done is pull cord for blowing, and that's not a very hard job at all. This also means that I'm going to have to start learning how to do the weed-eating. I hope weeds taste good, though I expect them to be kinda stringy. We've almost finished the mowing, Peter is currently doing the side yard, which is I think the second hardest part. He's already done the weed-eating.
Caleb Jones is also here for math with mom, from what I can hear he just succeeded in figuring out a particularly hard problem. I'm not sure why he's doing math with mom, but I'm guessing that he just wants to stay in shape for school or something similar.
I'm going to go check on Peter now.

Fifteen - twenty minutes later,
Done with the mowing, finally. We started at about nine-thirty this morning and it is now eleven-twenty six. Now all that needs to be done is the blowing which will probably get done later on this afternoon. Oh, yeah and I also have the hiccups. AUGH! I'm going to go get lunch now.

Yeah! I'm back! From Camping. At Ratcliff lake. By the way, that's why I didn't write at all yesterday. I didn't have the most time in the world cause I went to Lindsey Stephenson's birthday last night. Back to camping.
We got to Ratcliff about four O-clock yesterday and set up the tents. We didn't actually start the fire for dinner until late, so we didn't eat until about eight. We had hobo packets which are just a bit of meat with whatever vegetables you want on top. We then spent a little bit cleaning up dinner and eating s'mores. Amazingly we did have facilities there. The showers were nasty, so none of us took showers, we just changed. After that, we went to bed. Notice that I said "went to BED", not "went to sleep". They sat up all night talking.
SO, I woke up around seven thirty and sat around waiting for breakfast while everyone else (not including our adult leaders) snoozed. We had a casserole for breakfast, then cleaned up. We then broke down camp and put everything in the cats. Once that was done, we did a little bit of hiking. You know, it just accured to me that I should tell you who went, here's the list. Mr. Selmen, Mrs. Slaten, Dr. Scott, Briana Selmen, Brooke Selmen, Elizabeth Slaten, Sarah Slaten, Molly Perkins, Brittany Selmen, Courtney Reese, and Me. That's a long list. Please don't make me write it again.
Now, where was I, Oh, we were going hiking. Yes, we went hiking, came back, did some more hiking, and ate lunch, all before twelve. Lunch consisted of small snack food such as fig newtons, trail mix, beef jerky, cheese and crackers. The cheese was in these cans that squirted out sorta' like whipped cream. After finishing lunch we hiked back to camp then drove back to the lake to do some swimming. We swam for about three quarters of an hour then got some ice cream and drove home.
I'll be writing later this evening about today, because I figured that this has been enough for one post.
