Yes, yes. I know it's been a while. And I know that I don't have any excuses, well, actually, I have been at my grandparents house for the last four days. Is that a reasonable excuse? Probabley not, but I don't care. Anyway, how about I tell you all about Dallas? That sounds good.
Dallas. Well, I took the normal three to four hours to get there, well, maybe not four, but you get the idea. I read "The Cat Who Played Brahms" almost the whole way there. By the way, that's a really nice mystery series by Lillian Jackson Braun about two cats and a journalist. Anyway, I read that almost the whole way, and when we did get to Dallas instead of going straight to our grandparents house like we normally do, we went to their church. We stayed there for the evening worship which was basically whatever any adult male thought he should share, some hymns, and the Lord's Supper. They had a pastor from, um, I don't remember where, but it was a foreign country where they spoke Spanish, I think. I also think that it started with a "B". Well, his name was, um, someone Carlos. Man! I have a really bad memory, I can't even remember his name! I'm very disgusted with myself at this point. >:P When we got around to the Lord's Supper, I forgot which cups had wine and which had grape juice, I of course, accidentally ended up with the wine. Gee, I nearly choked! I eventually got over that, and we finished the service.
Next day, Mom, Peter, Bet and I went shopping for quilt stuff and knitting stuff. At the yarn shop, called the Woolie Ewe, I got this really cool pattern and yarn for a shawl/wrap around thing. It's rectangular in two colors, and is made entirely of knit. No purl or anything else, just knit! In other words really easy, except for the fact that It's rather large, of course. I chose two shades of blue. Now, I know that at this point certain people would probably describe in length what exact color they were, but I'm just not a very good describer, so you'll have to do with dark blue and light blue. So... After spending half the morning quilting and knitting, we got lunch at Subway and proceeded to return to Bet and Grandaddy's house. But when we did get there, Mom decided that that would be the most opurtune moment to go to the Half Price Book store, and I'm rather glad that she did, because we spent most of the afternoon there. We also didn't have the little girls with us, so we spent even more time there than we normally did. I found this book by Christopher Tolkien that's about J. R. R. Tolkien's works. I also got several Rose is Rose comic books and several other The Cat Who... books. Then we retired to dinner and bed, I'm quite glad to say.
So, after Monday came Tuesday. And aren't you glad that it did? Anyway, after several hours of blissfull sleep, Annalee decided that I needed a wake up call that I DIDN'T need. So then, Mom took me and Mary and Annalee to the local park and she and I did some knitting. Annalee, I'm quite happy to say, spent her time very efficiently. Can you guess what she did? Chased grackles of course! What else would a self respecting ten year old do at a park full of things to climb on and to play on? Chase grackles! Well, at least Mary did some actual playing, and at least Mom and I got some knitting done.
We left Dallas about two after eating lunch at our grandparents house. We got home around four and had pizza for dinner. Yum.
Well, I can't think of anything else we did in Dallas, so a three paragraph report will have to tide you over until I think of something else to say. Say! I could say that the Yerkes are finally returning from their long and difficult journey into the great unknown of Arakansas. Yeah! Courtney is going to spend the night here on Friday, and I'm sure she'll have lots of awful, nerve wracking tales to tell. After all, her neighbors are deep Red Necks. How about it Courtney? Anyway, we also have Mary Watson's wedding going on this weekend. The wedding in which Annalee and I are expected to sing in. Well, it's only two verses, how much of a fool can one make of ones self with only two verses? I'll leave that question to the critics and move on.
Tomorrow, Andrew and Ross will be moving chairs for the reception, and Annalee and I have a piano lesson. Also, Mom will be leaving for her quilt retreat that will end on Friday evening. She's abandoning us! Help! We're going to be stuck with Ross in charge! Auughhhh! Well, then again, he makes some exceptional meals sometimes. But there's not much evidence that he feels very cooky right now. Speaking of cooky, I made dinner tonight. Parmesan Pasta Primevera. Pretty impressive, no? It turned out all right, but it needed more salt. Ah well, next time, next time. Hopefully there won't be a next time for quite some time, but that's just me hoping. I don't know about anyone else, they're probably hoping that I don't ever take up the sauce pan again. But, again, that could be me. Proabaly not.
Not much else to say, is there? If there's some subject that you think worth a mention by a certain charcter in Red, just say so.
T.T.F.N. Ta ta for now!
